Former Asante Kotoko coach Michael Osei has called on the livid fans of the club to rally behind Charles Kwablan Akonnor in this crucial moment as the team prepares for its colossal assignment against Cameroon side Cotton Sports in the Confederations Cup.
The former Ashanti Gold SC gaffer has come under strong pressure from a section of the Porcupine Warriors supporters following his charges inability to beat regional rivals Ashanti Gold in former president John Agyekum Kuffour’s ceremonial match last Sunday.
Nevertheless, the former player of the club argues it is too early for the teaming supporters to demand instant results since there is no competitive football in the country to shape and keep the players active.
Speaking to kickgh.com, the national U-23 deputy coach mentioned “Expectation is too much from the supporters of the club and it will be very needful for them to lower it now in other not to be disappointed.”
Michael Osei believes the former Wolfsburg skipper has what it takes to power the Ghanaian giants to reach greater height.
“C.K Akonnor is a fine coach with lots of potentials and has capabilities to push Kotoko forward, therefore, there is a need for the supporters to rally behind him because the players have not been active since last year June.”
“I will encourage the supporters to understand the dynamics of the game now to avoid enormous pressure on the coach.” He continued.
C K Akonnor succeeded Paa Kwesi Fabian as head coach of Asante Kotoko in November, 2018 after the former vacated his role as head coach of the club.
