Paris Saint-Germain will endeavour to maintain or increase their eight-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table when they travel to face Bordeaux on Saturday evening but Ghana’s Gideon Mensah is not expected to play any big part of this match.
Portuguese left back Ricardo Mangas is currently the main position holder for Les Girondins as Mensah is relegated to the bench.
Ricardo Mangas, just like the Ghanaian, joined Bordeaux on loan from Boavista during the summer whilst Mensah moved from Red Bull Salzburg.
Mensah started three league games for his new club at the start of the season – against Marseille during Week 2, against Angers on Week 3 and against Nice during Week 4- as manager Petkovic favoured a 3 – 5 – 2 system.
In that formation the Ghanaian was deployed as a left wing back with Mangas playing at the left side of the three-man defence. Bordeaux did not win any of their opening four games of the season with this system – losing two games and drawing two.
Lacking results, Petkovic made changes to his defence starting from the Week 5 game against Lens. Mozambique defender Mexer started at the left side of the three-man defence whilst Mangas was pushed to the left wing back role – Mensah was dropped and has never returned to the starting team till date as Mangas continues to hold either the left back or left wing back position.
Bordeaux possible starting lineup:
