Stade Rennes FC supporters gave the Ghanaian Kamaldeen Sulemana debutant a standing ovation following his exquisite debut goal and a promising performance against Lens on opening day of the 2021/22 Ligue 1 season.
Three weeks after his arrival, Sulemana scored his first goal on Sunday with Stade Rennais and he celebrated it with a backflip.
The signing of the Ghanaian international (19 years old) was at the same level as the goal (14th minute) which preceded it: on a counter and a perfect pass from Tait, the Rennes rookie, mute during his two friendlies played, took depth and dropped Fortes, before adjusting Leca with a nice curled shot from the right, returned with the help of the post.
“I see that he fixes Steven (Fortes) and, afterwards, to be very frank, I am so far from the ball that I have the impression that it will come out, admits the Lens goalkeeper.
“I’m still trying to see what I could have done better, but this time I’m not going to flog myself. ” the goalkeeper added.
The game ended 1-1. Rennes travel to Brest next on 15th August.
