Ghanaian winger Frank Acheampong was on target for Henan FC as they edged out Shanghai Shenhua in a dramatic Chinese FA Cup quarterfinal clash on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
The exciting match at Shanghai Stadium ended 3-3 after extra time, with Henan FC eventually triumphing in a tense penalty shootout to book their place in the semifinals.
Acheampong, who started the game and played 68 minutes, scored Henan’s second goal after the break, capitalizing on a setup by teammate Yeljan Shinar. His goal gave Henan a 2-1 lead before Shanghai Shenhua equalized late through Wilson Manafa in the 86th minute to force extra time.
Both sides scored once during the additional 30 minutes, sending the match to penalties where Henan held their nerve to seal qualification.
“Great to be on the scoresheet,” Acheampong posted on social media after the game.
The 31-year-old forward now has one goal in two Chinese FA Cup appearances this season, and a total of seven goals with two assists in 19 games across all competitions.
Henan FC will now face Chengdu Rongcheng in the semifinals on August 19, with Acheampong expected to play a key role as the club chases FA Cup glory.
