Frank Lampard and Coventry City have been left deeply worried after key forward Brandon Thomas-Asante picked up a hamstring injury during their 4–2 win over Middlesbrough in the English Championship.
Thomas-Asante, who has been the club’s top scorer this season, was forced off the pitch before the 30-minute mark after feeling discomfort in his hamstring. Although Coventry City went on to seal an impressive away victory, the early substitution of their leading attacker cast a shadow over the triumph.
Lampard has voiced strong concern about the injury, explaining that the forward felt tightening in the muscle and immediately requested to come off to prevent further damage. He believes the quick decision to withdraw him may have helped avoid a more serious tear. Thomas-Asante is expected to undergo medical scans to determine the full extent of the setback.
The Ghanaian international has been exceptional this season, driving Coventry’s push for Premier League promotion. His outstanding form in October earned him the Championship Player of the Month award after scoring six goals, including two braces. So far, he has notched 10 goals and provided three assists in 17 league matches.
