French clubs have come to an agreement to release African players to their respective countries for the 2022 AFCON qualifiers.
The Ligue 1 and 2 clubs were initially reluctant to let their African players move out for next week’s AFCON qualifiers due to the upsurge of Coronavirus on the continent but Sportswprldghana understands that the decision has been rescinded following a meeting between the French Football Federation and the clubs on Friday afternoon.
The meeting came about due to a petition from the Senegalese Football Association to the French Federation that they will be very much affected as 13 of the players called by their head coach Aliou Cisse are based in France.
The new development which came from the meeting authorities is that the African players in France can leave for their countries and they will not be obliged to do isolation on their return to France though they must do a PCR test every day for a week.
Ghana will have Amiens duo of central defender Nicholas Opoku and midfield enforcer Emmanuel Lomotey for the clash with South Africa and Sao Tome.
