Ghana international Alexander Djiku is pleased that Strasbourg wrapped up the 2020/21 French Ligue 1 with a 1-1 stalemate against Lorient on Sunday.
Senegalese attacker Habib Diallo shot Strasbourg ahead just after 18 minutes into the game as the first half ended 1-0 in the hosts’ favour.
Back from recess, Lorient grabbed the leveler in the 55th minute, thanks to Trevoh Chalobah’s strike.
Djiku’s Strasbourg finished the season with 42 points to occupy the 15th position on the league standings.
“In difficulty, we know that we can count on our supporters. It was still very good what they showed us today with this welcome. Tonight, I think the people of Strasbourg are happy.” Djiku said after the game.
“We had a very difficult season. We never gave up and in the end we keep the club in Ligue 1. That’s what we will remember. We will savor.
“We absolutely wanted to win to end the season. We were a little frustrated at the final whistle not to be able to win.
“I remember the spirit of this season. We remained united and united. We also showed strength of character when we were back to the wall.”
“I think everyone has learned from this season. Seasons like these build character for the future. I hope next year we will be stronger.” he concluded.
