The former Ghana-born Germany international is a legend at Schalke 04 after playing over 340 games for the Bundesliga side between 1999 and 2010.
But this week, the club were relegated from the German top-flight with 4 games to spare and team manager Asamoah was teary after confirmation on Tuesday during a defeat at Arminia Bielefeld.
Asamoah was born in Mampong to Ghanaian parents in the Ashanti region of Ghana in October 1978 before moving abroad with his family in 1990.
In total he has spent 20 good years at Schalke as a footballer, staff member, assistant manager at youth level, team manager and first team coordinator.
Tuesday’s relegation left the Asamoah in a sorrowful mood -something that is not surprising when one considers his 20-year relationship with club.
