Ghana coach Otto Addo says his side is fully focused on their upcoming friendly against Austria, insisting there are no easy games in modern football.
The Black Stars face Austria on Friday in Vienna before taking on Germany in Stuttgart on Monday as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
Speaking ahead of the first fixture, Addo played down the importance of Ghana’s second opponent, stressing that his immediate attention is firmly on Austria.
“To be honest, in modern-day football, I think everyone can beat everyone. I’m very, very sure, and I think we saw it at the last World Cup that there are no teams to be underrated,” he said.
“Surely, Germany is high profile, but to be honest, I’m not thinking about Germany now.”
Addo made it clear that Ghana’s approach is centred on taking one game at a time, with the aim of securing a positive result against Austria.
“For us, it’s full focus on Austria. We want to win every match we play; this is for sure. And now, the full focus is on Austria,” he added.
The coach revealed that his technical team has studied their opponents in detail and is confident the players understand what is required.
“We saw what they do, we’ve analysed them well, and I’m very, very hopeful that the players will do it at the end,” he said.
Addo also expects a demanding contest but believes his side is ready to rise to the challenge.
“It’s about them, and with the focus on Austria, we know what to do. Now we have to execute. It will be an intense game, and this is what we’re looking up to.”
He concluded by reiterating that attention will only shift to Germany after the Austria clash.
“After the match, we will think about Germany,” he said.
