The Appeals Committee (GFA AC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has urged players of Phar Rangers to lodge a complaint with the Player Status Committee of the association if only they wish to terminate their contract following the demotion of the Division One Club.
Phar Rangers were initially banned for five years from all football activities by the GFA Disciplinary Committee (GFA DC) but that decision has now been replaced with a demotion to the third tier league and according to Appeal Committee players who seek to break their contract may apply to the Player Status Committee.
The Eastern Region club – where current Asante Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah was President before his new role at Kotoko – wrote an official letter to the GFA announcing their decision to withdraw from all GFA competitions and that the club should be considered as defunct.
The GFA DC swiftly looked at the matter and imposed brutal sanctions. Phar Rangers later rescinded their decision but the GFA DC and GFA AC would not consider that.
