The Ghana Premier League will now have eighteen Clubs competing for the ultimate title after Congress agreed to amend its statutes by increasing its numbers to 124.
A decision was sealed on Thursday during the 25th ordinary Congress at the Ghanaman Soccer of Excellence – Prampram where the Clubs voted to have two additional teams for the elite division.
Already Great Olympics and King Faisal had been reinstated for the 2019/20 season.
The amendment means that the decision will be unchanged hence the Ghana Premier League will be played by eighteen teams instead of the initial sixteen.
However, three teams will be demoted at the end of the season instead of five.
This format increases the participation of teams in Ghana’s top-flight.
