Asante Kotoko has been deducted $25,000 by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), according to Kessben Sports.

Months ago, the GFA issued a notice to Kumasi Asante Kotoko, demanding payment of the GFA’s percentage from the club’s player transfers last season, threatening demotion if the amount remained unpaid.

To settle the debt, Asante Kotoko’s management agreed to allow the GFA to deduct the owed amount from their share of the sponsorship money provided by StarTimes, the Ghana Premier League’s TV rights holder.

A report by Kessben Sports on Tuesday revealed that the GFA deducted $25,000 from the StarTimes sponsorship payment due to Asante Kotoko, after receiving the funds from the broadcaster.
