George Akwasi Afriyie, a presidential aspirant for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has taken a significant step by donating GHS 10,000.00 to support the ongoing renovation of the Sunyani Coronation Park. This contribution reflects his dedication to improving football infrastructure in the region.
The urgent need for renovating the Coronation Park arose when Bofoakwa Tano FC, a traditional team from the Bono Region, qualified to use the park as their home venue for the Ghana Premier League. However, the park had suffered from neglect over the years, requiring substantial upgrades to meet the standards of a premier league venue. The renovation involves enhancing the dressing room, safe zone, inner perimeter, press center, and playing pitch.
George Afriyie’s generous donation is complemented by the support of several individuals who have purchased construction materials and volunteered their time to assist with the renovation process. This collective effort showcases the local community’s passion and commitment to creating a suitable environment for their beloved football team and elevating the footballing experience in the region.
The contribution from the former GFA vice president also underscores the organization’s commitment to fostering football development across various regions of Ghana.
With the combined support of individuals and the GFA, the renovation of the Sunyani Coronation Park is set to transform the venue into a premier league standard facility. This will provide Bofoakwa Tano FC and other teams with an ideal home ground to showcase their talent and offer football enthusiasts in the region an exciting and enhanced sporting experience.
