FIFA dismissed the protest filed by the South Africa Football Association (SAFA) following the defeat of the Bafana Bafana by the Black Stars of Ghana during the 14th November group decider between the two national teams.
Andrew Ayew converted a 33rd minute penalty to win the game for the Black Stars at the Cape Coast stadium after defender Daniel Amartey was brought down in the area.
SAFA disagreed with the outcome and the match and filed a complaint at FIFA who agreed to look into the matter.
The global soccer body had promised to deliver a decision by November 23rd but after ten days of delay the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has decided and it is another victory for the Black Stars over South Africa.
“The protest lodged by South Africa has been declared inadmissible by the Disciplinary Committee as it did not meet the requirements foreseen under art. 46 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code and art. 14 of the Regulations of the Preliminary Competition of the FIFA World Cup 2022,” FIFA said in a statement.
The statement added that: “The decision is subject to appeal.”
