Ghana’s Black Queens have arrived safely in Cameroun to participate in this year’s Africa Women’s Championship (AWC 2016).
The Queens flew to Douala and continued to Limbe where Group B is based.
The 36 member contingent is made up of 21 players, 8 technical team and 7 management members as well as other administrative supporting staff.
Coach Yussif Basigi on arrival told local media that Queens had come to win the AWC for the first time.
“We have never won it before despite participating in 11 out of the 12 edition held. It is time to also win it,” Basigi said.
So far the team is in high spirits and will hold their second training session at 7pm (6pm GMT) this evening, to get used to the evening weather, the same time they will play their opening Group B game against Kenya.
Safia Abdul Rahman is expected to captain the team for the campaign.
