Black Stars head coach Milovan Rajevac has explained why in-form striker, Joel Fameyeh was absent from Ghana’s game against Zimbabwe.
The Serbian gaffer gave an account about why the Russian-based striker was missing in action against the Warriors of Zimbabwe in the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifier at Cape Coast last Saturday.
According to the head coach of the four-time AFCON champions, every player is important to the team but all of them could not be included in the matchday squad.
He also revealed that all players are in contention to play for the Black Stars on Tuesday afternoon in Harare depending on what he wants from each player in that game.
Milo refuted reports that suggested that the former Asokwa Deportivo SC striker had contracted the deadly disease, Coronavirus ahead of the game.
“He is not injured, it is just a situation we had and we needed to excuse few players as we could only register 23 players for the match and we needed to invite more players because of the COVID.”, he revealed.
On the other hand, the Ghanaian coach urged the players to be proud of being invited by the national team to represent their country.
” They should be proud but it is always a tough decision to choose somebody you think is more appropriate for some games. It was a Coach’s decision. It doesn’t mean they are not in contention for the next match. They are with us and part of the team”, he concluded.
The 24-year-old former Dinamo Brest marksman played in both of the opening two games against Ethiopia and South Africa respectively.
