Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku – President of the Ghana Football Association, has offered an explanation on why there is a need to subject the various national team coaches’ call-up to serious scrutiny before it is officially released to the public.
There was a massive public disenchantment following the announcement of the Black Stars’ squad for Ghana’s 2021 Cup of Nations qualifying games against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe.
However, Mr. Okraku has succinctly defended the decision to subject the call up to scrutiny and make the coach defend and Justify the call-up.
He says coaches will have to convince a panel before the list is approved for an official announcement.
Okraku told FootballMadeInGhana.com in an interview that: “How can a call-up be released without the consent of the GFA president?
“Every coach knows the structure concerning call-ups. The coach with the technical directory will do the call-ups from there to the management and then to the apex.
“The coach will have to convince a panel as to why he called each player before it’s approved.”
