Officials of the Ghana Football Association have formally contacted the parents of Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah, confirms Black Stars Coach Charles Akonnor.
The contact is aimed at convincing the player’s parents that he should opt to represent Ghana at the senior national level.
Eddie Nketiah who was born in the UK to Ghanaian parents is eligible to play for both Ghana and England and has even represented England at the youth levels.
The youngster helped Arsenal to win the 2020 FA Cup final against Chelsea.
The Ghana FA in attempt to capture Nketiah to play for the Black Stars, took to Twitter to congratulate him when he won the FA Cup title, sparking a thread about whether Ghana was courting the player.
”We’ve been able to talk to Eddie Nketiah‘s parents. But even though we’ve tried, it doesn’t mean it’s a done deal. Myself and Ghana FA are working hard at it,” Akonnor told Bola Ray on Starr Chat.
Meanwhile, Eddie Nketiah’s uncle recently said the boy and his parents were not too keen on representing Ghana.
