Kwasi Owusu (born 7 November 1945 – died 30 March 2020) will be buried in his hometown of Nkoranza Nkwabeng today Saturday 7th November 2020.
Kwasi Owusu nicknamed ” Powerhouse” was a Ghanaian international footballer. As of June 2013, he was considered to be the country’s leading international goal scorer with 36 goals until Asamoah Gyan overtook him to become the country’s record goal-scorer on 51 goals.

Owusu made name at Bofoakwa Tano and with the Black Stars of Ghana where he captained the national team for not less than eight years in the early 70s.
He died aged 74, on 30 March 2020, in Sunyani.
Owusu became the first and still the only Ghanaian player to score 5 goals in a single competitive game which he did against Niger on 17th August 1969 during an AFCON qualifier as Ghana won 6-0. He extended the record by racking up further four goals against the same opponent in the return match on 21 September 1969 making it 9 goals in two games against Niger. This record has stood for 51 years.

The funeral ceremony will take place in Sunyani specifically at the Victoria Park in Area One on Saturday, November 7th.
