The 26-year-old has been hogging headlines with consistent five-star performances so far with the Kumas-based giants and has caught the eyes of the technical handlers of the senior national side
Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu has said his outfit will relish the opportunity of having Asante Kotoko lethal forward Songne Yacouba in their fold if he decides to switch allegiance to the four-time African champions.
The Burkinabe import marksman has so far made his mark in the dosmetic top-flight with the Ghanaian heavyweight club having joined them this term on a three-year deal.
The goal-machine was once again on top of his form when the Black Stars clashed with the Porcupine Warriors at the Baba Yara Stadium following the cancellation of the Afcon double-header qualifiers against Sierra Leone last week.
However, his sparkling form coupled with his free-scoring prowess have left the Black Stars technical handlers much impressed and are now eyeing for his nationality switch provided he could replicate his fine form by helping their cause in making such decision when contacted officially.
”Normally a good player remains a good player and we have a lot of players that their standard varies from one to another and even supporters does normally detect that with regards to such comparisons,” the Wafu winning gaffer told Kumasi-based Light FM
”But what makes it difficult is when you compare him [Songne Yacouba] to the strikers at your disposal, maybe if he is to play at highest level; it can happen that he might fail to replicate this same performance on the local scene and that is the stage where such player could easily be assessed base on his capabilities thus in having a clear picture of what he is made of,”
”So we should not jumped to the gun by saying such player is good for the cause of the nation as he might be the one to turn the fortune of the country which to me must not be so,”
”If out of his own will he wants to do something about switching his allegiance to the national team, then there is a process he needs to pass through before management can speak to him in order to make his decisions so that he will need to go and prove beyond all doubts that he deserves it better than Kwadwo or Kwabena.”
