Ghana left-back Gideon Mensah provided an assist in Bordeaux big defeat to Alexander Djiku‘s Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1 on Wednesday night.
Mensah started the game alongside his countryman Enock Kwarteng but couldn’t help the visitors avoid defeat at the Stade de la Meinau.
Bordeaux threw the first blow in the game after Un-Jo Hwang hit the back of the net to put visitors ahead in the 7th minute. However, Adrien Thomasson equalised for Strasbourg in the 22nd minute after Enock had been booked in the 18th-minute mark of the game.
Alexander Djiku after a hard tackle on his opponent player, was flashed a yellow card in the 36th minute before Kevin Gameiro scored in the 43rd minute to give the hosts a 2-1 lead. After 45+1 Ludovic Ajorque scored from the spot to extend Strasbourg’s lead to 3-1 before Dimitri Lienard added the fourth goal in the 48th minute.
In the 57th minute, Gideon Mensah set up Alberth Elis to reduce the scoreline to 4-2 but that wasn’t enough to get them any point as Ludovic Ajorque scored in the 65th minute to wrap up a 5-2 win for the home team.
