Sofascore has named midfielder Majeed Ashimeru in their Belgium Pro League team of the week following his exceptional performance against KAS Eupen on Sunday.
Despite KAS Eupen having the first chance of the game, Bart Verbruggen stopped Djeidi Gassama’s attempt. Sporting struggled to create opportunities in the opening minutes despite having a lot of possession.
Benito Raman had two chances to score in the first half, but his first goal was disallowed for offside, and his second attempt was saved by the Eupen goalkeeper. The game was 0-0 at halftime.
Sporting quickly took the lead in the second half after Kristian Arnstad’s free-kick led to a headed goal by Raman. Ashirmeru was substituted in the 77th minute but had already made two key passes, 73 touches, completed three long balls, one shot off target, 90% pass accuracy, three dribbles completed, one interception, and seven tackles.
The game ended with Sporting taking three points back to Neerpede. Black Stars goalkeeper Manaf Nurudeen was on the bench as an unused substitute for KAS Eupen.
Sofascore’s Belgium Pro League team of the week includes Ashirmeru.
