Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru is on the brink of sealing a move away from Belgian giants Anderlecht, with newly promoted La Louvière emerging as his most likely next destination.

The 28-year-old has endured a frustrating spell in Brussels, struggling for regular first-team opportunities and falling out of favour under head coach Besnik Hasi. As part of a wider squad overhaul, Anderlecht have actively sought to offload the Ghana international and have informed him that he is no longer part of the club’s plans.

Ashimeru was deemed surplus to requirements even before the start of the current season and has since spent much of the campaign maintaining match fitness with Anderlecht’s U23 side in Belgium’s second-tier league. Despite limited senior involvement, he managed to score for the youth team, highlighting his readiness for a new challenge.

Anderlecht’s stance comes amid a busy transfer window, with the club eager to streamline their squad and resolve Ashimeru’s future as swiftly as possible. La Louvière, meanwhile, are keen to reinforce their midfield options and are confident of completing a deal that would allow the Ghanaian to revive his career with regular top-flight football.

If the move materialises, Ashimeru is expected to play a key role in La Louvière’s battle for survival in the Belgian Pro League. The newly promoted side currently sit 14th and view his experience and quality as vital to their bid to avoid relegation.

A product of former Ghana Premier League side WAFA SC, Ashimeru joined Anderlecht in the summer of 2021 and remains under contract until 2027. However, with his role at the club now significantly reduced, a departure appears imminent — offering the experienced midfielder a timely opportunity to rediscover form, consistency, and momentum in Belgian football.
