Ghana midfielder Nana Opoku Ampomah has confirmed that German side Fortuna Düsseldorf were interested in signing him from Waasland-Beveren in the early part of the summer transfer window.
Since joining in 2016 season, the youngster has been a key cog for Belgian Jupiler Pro League side Waasland-Beveren.
Ampomah made 32 appearances and scored eight goals to help the Sven Vermant finish 12th on the standings.
The Ghana attacker was attracting interest from German Bundesliga 2 outfit Fortuna Düsseldorf, but the deal did materialize as he deemed a core part of Waasland-Beveren side for the 2018/19 campaign.
“Yes, there was contact, but in the end, nothing really came out of that.”
“I feel good at Waasland-Beveren, our start may not be great, but this is a young team that grows every day I’m there sure we will let us know, “he says to Het Laatste Nieuws.
The 22-year-old has netted once in three games for the side in the ongoing Jupilar Pro League.
