Asante Kotoko wrapped up the year in fine style with a crushing 6-0 win over Bechem United in their Week 16 Ghana Premier League clash at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The emphatic victory lifted the Porcupine Warriors to the top of the league table.
Kotoko were in control from the opening minutes and showed clear intent with their sharp passing, quick movement and deadly finishing. Morrison Donzo broke the deadlock in the ninth minute, setting the pace for what turned into a one-sided contest. Samba O’Neil doubled the lead before halftime as Bechem struggled to contain Kotoko’s attacking threat.
The hosts picked up where they left off after the break. Hubert Gyau struck soon after the restart to make it three, and Johnson Owusu added a fourth on the hour mark as the pressure continued to mount on the visitors. Kotoko showed no mercy, piling on more goals late in the game to complete a dominant performance and a memorable afternoon for their supporters.
The comprehensive win marks Kotoko’s biggest margin of victory in several seasons and highlights the growing confidence within the team under coach Karim Zito. For Bechem United, the heavy loss leaves them stuck in the relegation zone, increasing their worries as the season progresses.
Kotoko end the year on a high at the summit of the table, while Bechem will be looking to regroup quickly to turn their fortunes around.
