Bibiani Goldstars FC took a giant leap toward securing their maiden Ghana Premier League title with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park on Sunday afternoon.
The match started at a high tempo, and it was the home side who opened the scoring. Stephen Amankona fired Chelsea ahead in the 9th minute with a clinical finish that gave the Bibires the perfect start.
However, Goldstars responded in emphatic fashion. Just five minutes later, Foster Agyei brought the visitors level, calmly slotting home in the 14th minute. What followed was a stunning two-goal burst from Abdul Farouk Amoaful, who found the net in both the 23rd and 25th minutes to hand Goldstars a 3-1 lead before the half-hour mark.
Berekum Chelsea came out determined in the second half and were rewarded in the 53rd minute when Amankona bagged his second of the day to narrow the deficit to 3-2. The home side continued to push for an equalizer, applying constant pressure in the final stages of the game.
Despite the late onslaught, Goldstars stayed organized and resilient at the back, holding on for a vital away win.
The result keeps Bibiani Goldstars firmly on course for a historic league triumph. With just one game remaining—at home against Accra Lions FC—a win will see them lift the Ghana Premier League trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
