Basake Holy Stars wrapped up the year with a solid 2-0 victory over Hohoe United in their Ghana Premier League Week 16 fixture at the AAK II Sports Arena on Sunday.
The home side put in a well-organised and confident display, finding the net in both halves to secure maximum points and climb to 10th place on the league table. From the early stages, Holy Stars controlled possession and kept Hohoe United under constant pressure.
Their dominance paid off in the 35th minute when Prince Tweneboah opened the scoring with a composed finish, giving the hosts a deserved lead going into the interval.
Holy Stars maintained their authority after the restart, staying compact at the back while continuing to pose a threat going forward. Their persistence was rewarded again in the 70th minute as Simba Sylvester struck to double the advantage and all but seal the contest.
Hohoe United found it difficult to break down the disciplined Holy Stars defence and failed to mount a meaningful response. The defeat pushes the visitors into the relegation zone, adding to their struggles this season.
For Basake Holy Stars, the win provides a timely confidence boost and a strong foundation to build on as the league campaign continues.
