Dreams FC recorded a 2-1 win over Medeama SC at the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday in a Ghana Premier League Week 2 game on Sunday.
Winger Issah Ibrahim netted a late penalty in the cold afternoon at Dawu to hand his side the three maximum points after Kwafwo Asamoah had restored parity for the visitors with a wonderful strike.
Dreams FC started the game on a bright note as they pegged the visitors to their own half with Ali Huzaf and Joseph Esso in the thick of affairs.
The home side could have opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Agyenim Boateng after a long incisive pass from Samuel Twene but with goalkeeper Eric Ofori-Antwi at his mercy, the striker was flagged off side.
Dreams FC got their noses in front in the 18th minute as mercurial Joseph Esso connected beautifully to a pass from outside the area to give his side the lead.
The pressure on Medeama became immense as they decided to recoil into their shells and hit Dreams FC on the counter.
Dreams FC started the second half of the game with so much energy and took control of the once again with some great display.
Joseph Esso who had become a torn in the flesh of the Medeama defenders set up Agyenim Boateng with an exquisite pass but the strikers drive missed the post by inches to the relieve of the visitors.
Medeama SC’s midfield duo of Justice Blay and Eric Kwakwa seized the midfield with some wonderful inter-passing as Dreams FC retreated but the deliveries to the attackers were cut short by the home side.
Coach Winfred Dormon brought on playmaker Dantani Amadu for Ali Huzaf as Dreams FC changed to 4-2-3-1 with the substitute operating just behind lone ranger Joseph Esso as Agyenim moved to the wings.
Former Dreams FC player Kwadwo Asamoah who had been lively on the flanks for Medeama punished his former employers with a superb goal in the the 83rd minute to make it 1-1
Dreams FC piled pressure on Medeama in the final minutes of the game and had a penalty after a foul on Joseph Esso in the box. Issah Ibrahim stepped up and coolly slotted the ball beyond the reach of Ofori-Antwi to give his side a 2-1 lead.
