Karela United ensured their place in next season’s Ghana Premier League with a convincing 3-0 victory over Young Apostles on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Aliu Mahama Stadium.
Abdul Latif opened the scoring for the home side in the 32nd minute, setting the tone for a strong first-half performance. Karela doubled their lead before the break and added a third goal in stoppage time to seal a vital win in front of their home supporters.
The result lifts the Tamale-based club to 14th on the league table with 38 points, effectively securing their top-flight status. With their final match scheduled against Nsoatreman—who are absent from the competition—Karela are guaranteed three more points, further strengthening their survival.
Despite the loss, Young Apostles remain just above Karela in 13th place with 40 points. The Premier League newcomers, who have had a mixed campaign, will travel to Bechem United on the final day in search of a positive finish to their debut season.
The win brings relief to Karela fans, as the team avoids relegation after a difficult season marked by inconsistency. With safety confirmed, the “Pride and Passion” can now look ahead to rebuilding for the 2025–26 campaign.
