A 90th minute strike from Substitute Kweku Karikari earned Liberty Professionals a point against Elmina Sharks in a Ghana Premier League Week 2 game at the Nduom Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The early minutes of the game saw both teams soaking up the pressure and using the flanks with little action through the middle.
Augustine Owusu had the first clear cut chance of the game to give his side the lead in the 11th minute but his weak drive was easily saved by Liberty Professionals goalkeeper Kofi Baah
A moment of brilliance by Elmina Sharks danger man Benjamin Tweneboah gave his side the opener in the 30th minute as he went on a solo run before slotting the ball past the Baah.
Liberty organised themselves and came into the game strongly with some delightful midfield play but they found the Sharks back four difficult to break as most of their efforts were thwarted.
The second half saw Liberty Professionals dictating the pace of the game as they searched for the equalizer in the highly entertaining game.
Their efforts nearly yielded dividends after they were awarded a penalty in the 58th minute with Sharks defender Daniel Egyin being sent off for a foul but the spot kick from Liberty skipper George Ansong was superbly saved by goalkeeper Lord Bawa Martey.
With a man down, Elmina Sharks limited their offensive play as they tried to defend and catch Liberty on the break but the visitors brought in another attacker in the shape of Kweku Karikari in the 65th minute for Razak Boame and it proved to be useful.
Karikari netted the equalizer for Liberty in the 90th minute with a decent effort as the home side held on in injury time to end the game 1-1.
