West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) will be hoping to return to winning ways on Sunday when they welcome Elmina Sharks to the Sogakope Park in a Ghana Premier League week 3 fixture.
The Academy “Boys” have not had the brightest of starts to their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season as they struggled to beat a resilient King Faisal side by four goals to three at home before losing 1-0 to Bechem United at the Nana Gyeabour Park last weekend.
Typical of WAFA, they will be hoping to get things intact on Sunday and go for the kill as the competition begins to gather momentum.
Both teams have met four times in the history of the Ghana Premier League since 2017 with WAFA winning two and drawing one whilst their opponent have also recorded a single victory. In all, the Academy boys gave scored three goals and conceded three whilst their opponent’s have also netted three and let in the same amount of number.
The game on Sunday will be generally centered in midfield with WAFA trying to use their deep inter-positional passing game to disintegrate their Sharks before the net the goals.
WAFA coach Prosper Nartey will depend on Godwin Agbevor in the heart of midfield to provide the needed arsenals for deadly Daniel Lomotey and Konadu Yiadom to deliver the goals.
Elmina Sharks are also likely to operate more from the flanks where they can use the artistry and quick feet of Benjamin Tweneboah and veteran Richard Mpong to great effect.
The game promises lots of action, with the home side firm favorites to be win. However, they could be upset if they leave spaces at their back for Elmina Sharks to exploit.
