Two of the most talented and technically gifted players in the Ghana Premier League, Gladson Awako of Accra Great Olympics and Augustine Boakye of West African Football Academy (WAFA) SC clash today in Sogakope.
The brilliant players both play as a typical number 10, just behind the arrowheads or the strikers of their respective teams and have been dazzling in the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League.
Awako, a 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup winner is enormously experienced in the game and is a former winner of the Ghanaian top-flight league when he played a vital role in Berekum Chelsea’s success in 2012.
Awako also played in the CAF Champions League with the Bibires and provided a masterclass performance in the competition where his side played in the group stages and has since impressed consistently at the top level of professional football.
The Ghanaian also excelled in the Ligue 1 in Democratic Republic of Congo where he won the CAF Confederation trophy during his days with African giants TP Mazembe.
Upon his return to the domestic league, Awako has been arguably the best player in the Ghana Premier League with jaw-breaking displays which led him to winning the Player-Of-The-Month gong once in the season.
The 30-year-old Ghanaian playmaker has been a pivot and a consistent performer for Accra Great Olympics this season and has been involved in 10 goals with five in both goals and assist contribution for his team.
Meanwhile, youngster, Boakye has been a revelation for the Academy Boys this campaign with constant scintillating showings in the Ghana Premier League.
Boakye, 20 has banged in five goals and provided six assists in 18 matches for the Red and Whites this campaign and was rewarded with a call-up to the Black Stars by coach CK Akonnor for the first time in his young career.
There have been 21 goals involvement by the two creative players this season in the domestic league and both teams could prove very important for their teams this afternoon in Sogakope when both teams clash in the first game of the round 23 games in the top-flight.
Awako, who’s more like a master of the game would have to be at his maximum best if he hopes to help his side secure a vital away win at Sogakope and must dictate the pace of the match to avoid a defeat.
Boakye, more of an apprentice of the game is developing at a very fast pace and could be the secret weapon to undo Olympics this afternoon in the highly anticipated clash between the two teams who play fine football in the Premier League.
With both teams winning their previous games, both teams and set of players would be brimming with confidence and could produce one of the best games in the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season.
All eyes will be on experienced Awako and young sensational Boakye to deliver for their teams and ensure that the football fans enjoy the match which is anticipated to be a great but tough match full of action-packed and thrilling display.
