Heart of Lions strengthened their impressive home record with a confident 2–0 victory over Young Apostles in their Week 10 Ghana Premier League clash at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Michael Ephson gave Lions the perfect start in the 12th minute, finishing off a smooth attacking move after reacting quickly inside the penalty area. His early strike lifted the home supporters and set the tone for the rest of the match.
Coach Bashiru Hayford’s side maintained control throughout the first half, keeping possession and dictating play while limiting Young Apostles’ chances. The visitors, who had enjoyed good form in recent weeks, struggled to break through Lions’ well-organised defensive setup.
The hosts continued to apply pressure after the break, and their persistence paid off in the 73rd minute when a defensive error from Young Apostles resulted in an own goal, doubling Lions’ lead.
That moment deflated the visitors, who found it difficult to mount a comeback as Lions managed the game with composure and discipline.
The victory marks Heart of Lions’ ninth straight home win and extends their unbeaten run to four matches, further boosting their climb up the league table.
