Ashantigold and WAFA both recorded heavy wins on the road during the second week of the Ghana premier league.
C.K Akonnor led The Miners to humble Hearts of Oak 3-1 at the Cape Coast stadium with goals from James Akaminko, Amos Addai and Mumuni Shafiu as Joseph Esso grabbed a consolation for the Phobians.
League runner-up last season – WAFA – won their first away game of the new season at Dansoman and it could not have come at any better time than this after dropping home points against Asante Kotoko on opening day of the season.
So many big performers this week but see who made it into Gariba Raubil’s Team of the Week.

GK Felix Annan – Kotoko
Absolutely phenomenal against Inter Allies. Denied Victorien Adebayor couple of times with some really great saves. The Kumasi fans chanted “If you want to be saved from any danger, call Felix”. Monstrous game.
RB Tijani Joshua – Ashgold
Not one will contest his selection. Tijani has been on top for Ashgold for some four seasons running and he looks better and better game after game. He had a wonderful game even though he was not given any serious opposition at the right by the Hearts of Oak players.
LB Francis Boateng – WAFA
Played his role well at the left side of defence of WAFA.
CB Osei Agyemang – Ashgold
His side won 3-1 against Hearts of Oak in Cape Coast but the former Kotoko defender was voted the best player of the game. Not able to make a mark at bigger club Kotoko, Osei was handed another big chance by C.K Akonnor and it is so far, so good.
CB Mohammed Alhassan – WAFA
Led the WAFA defence with great equanimity. Captain of his side, he provided leadership as WAFA run riot 3-1 at Liberty.
CM Appial McCarthy – Ashgold
Excellent passer of the ball. His ball recovery rate against Hearts of Oak was also great. He was involved in the build up to Amos Addai’s goal and the second for Ashgold. Performance of note Appiah.
AM Mohammed Aminu – WAFA
Already making big name for himself Aminu. After reaching the last eight of last year’s U-17 FIFA World Cup with the Black Starlets the intelligent attacking midfielder has started the league season on a super note scoring two goals in two games against Kotoko on Day 1 and against Liberty Professionals on Week 2. WAFA won 3-1 in Dansoman and Aminu was the most exceptional performer in that game. Easily one of the best this weekend.
RF Sharani Zuberu – Dreams FC
Voted man of the match in his side’s 1-1 draw at Berekum Chelsea Zuberu is one of the key assets of coach Karim Zito and whenever he grows the team grows as well. Had a brilliant game.
LF Stephen Amankona – Berekum Chelsea
One of the lethal forwards remaining at Chelsea following the sale of star striker Stephen Sarfo. There was no Alfred Okai Quaye too byt despite the presence of Bismark Idan, Evans Obeng and co in the starting line it took substitute Amankona to clinch a stoppage time equalizer for the home side. Apart from the goal Amankona brought more sharpness in the Chelsea attack and he deserve his place.
CF Abdul Wahab – XI Wonders
Without Alex Asamoah, Abdul Wahab ensured Techiman XI Wonders do not miss the good services of the vetran striker. Wahab scored what wil be a vital away goal to win a point at th Croaby Awuah Park for the visiting B.A side.
SS Obed Owusu – Kotoko
Socred the match winner for his side and was greatly involved in his team’s overall play. Since joining Kotoko he doesn’t score load of goals but this was certainly great display by the former All Blacks and Berekum Chelsea player.
