Aduana FC’s aspirations for a Ghana Premier League title rebound took a hit following a narrow 1-0 defeat to Bechem United at the Nana Fosu-Gyeabour Park on Saturday.
Bechem United, showcasing their dominance at home, maintained an unbeaten streak in their last seven games, including a triumph over FC Samartex. In contrast, Aduana FC struggled on the road, managing only one win in their last 10 away matches, notably against Hearts of Oak.
Despite Aduana FC’s recent improvement with two wins in their last three games, they found the Hunters of Bechem United a formidable opponent. Bechem United capitalized on their home advantage, clinching a vital victory in the matchday 32 encounter, effectively ending Aduana’s title aspirations.
The turning point arrived in the 76th minute, courtesy of Emmanuel Owusu’s decisive strike, securing all three points for Bechem United.
With this defeat, Aduana FC’s chances of clinching the title vanished, even if league leaders Samartex were to lose all their remaining matches. Samartex, holding a six-point lead, could widen the gap further in their upcoming game against Bibiani Gold Stars. Moreover, Samartex boasts a superior head-to-head record, a crucial tie-breaker in such situations.
Meanwhile, Bechem United climbed to fifth place on the table with 47 points and two games remaining. Their focus now shifts to securing a top-four finish, aiming to conclude the season on a high note.
