Black Stars coach Charles Komlan Akonnor named his squad for the 2022 World Cup qualifying games against Ethiopia and South Africa.
There are a host of players who are doing well as their leagues are ongoing but they were overlooked by the Black Stars coach as he presented his squad for the double header.
Sportsworldghana.com takes a look at four players who ultimately deserve a players in Akonnor’s squad but were not called.
4- Isaac Cofie (Sivasspor)
The talented midfield enforcer has been in fine form for Turkish Superlig side Sivasspor in the preseason and also played key role as the “Braves” secured a place in the final play off of the UEFA Conference League.
3. Solomon Bonnah (RB Leipzig)
Bonnah has been excellent for the senior team of German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the off season following his promotion from the Under 19.
Despite already featuring for the Netherlands at Under 16 level, the former Ajax Amsterdam is still eligible to play for Ghana and he should have made the cut since we are still struggling for a right back. Bonnah has repeatedly stated that Ghana is an option.
2. Montari Kamaheni (Ashdod)
The former Ghana Under 20 left-back has been in his elements for Israeli club Ashdod since last season and he played key role in their Europa League qualifying games this season.
Montari who has been lively should have made the cut as an under study of Baba Rahman.
1. Solomon Asante ( Phoenix Rising)
The Phoenix Rising skipper has been Ghana’s most consistent player abroad for the past three seasons but he has been always overlooked by the national team coaches.
He has netted eight goals in 16 USL games this season and he should have been handed spot in the team.
