The Black Princesses started the game strongly, enjoying a larger share of possession as Nigeria struggled to get out of their box. Mary Amponsah and Linda Owusu Ansah had goal-scoring opportunities but couldn’t capitalize to put Ghana ahead.
An Ivy Osei Owusu handball in the 18-yard box gave Nigeria a chance to score from the spot kick. Jenat Akeremkowei made no mistake, giving Nigeria the lead.
Nigeria scored their second goal after a defensive blunder from Grace Andoh gave them a two-goal lead before halftime.

Ghana responded quickly after the break when Sarah Nyarko scored a brilliant goal, assisted by Diana Amoako.
Ghana pushed for the equalizer but Nigeria’s resolute defense denied them as Favour Nkwocha scored in the last minute of the game to extend Nigeria’s lead, ending the game 3-1.
