Ghana U17 Women’s National Team delivered an impressive performance on Saturday as they secured a convincing 2–0 away win over Togo U17 Women’s National Team in the first leg of their U17 Women’s World Cup qualifying tie.
The match, played at the Stade de Kégué, saw the young Ghanaian side show great discipline, confidence, and attacking quality from the opening whistle.
Ghana took control early in the game and broke the deadlock in the 16th minute. Priscilla Mensah finished off a well-worked team move to give the Black Maidens a deserved lead away from home.
After taking the advantage, Ghana remained organised and composed, controlling key phases of the match while limiting Togo’s attacking opportunities.
In the second half, Mensah continued her fine form. She doubled Ghana’s lead in the 64th minute with a sharp finish after another well-executed attacking move, sealing her brace and extending the visitors’ control of the game.
Despite efforts from the home side to respond, the Ghana defence held firm and ensured a clean sheet on the road.
The result puts the Black Maidens in a strong position ahead of the second leg, which will be played in Accra, where they will aim to finish the job and progress further in the qualification campaign.
