Bafana Bafana Legend Mark fish believes it will be difficult for FIFA to rule in favor of the South African Football Association (SAFA) in their protest against Ghana’s Black Stars.
SAFA appealed to the FIFA last Sunday in protest of the 1-0 defeat that Bafana Bafana suffered in the hands of the Black Star.
After feeling that Senegalese referee Maget Ndiae made many obvious mistakes in the match, the national FA is demanding a rematch between Bafana Bafana and Ghana.
SAFA believes that N’Diaye had a prejudice at night and that most of his decisions, including the suspicious penalties he gave, supported Ghana.
Fish says although he sympathizes with the Bafana Bafana team who feel they have been unfairly deprived of their right to qualify for the World Cup, he doubts FIFA will support SAFA.
“Difficult. We can see the efforts of the players throughout the qualifying. It’s a shame that Ghana had a penalty that didn’t look like a penalty.” Mark Fish said as quoted by Daily sun.
“This gave Bajuana players a chance to qualify. We can only imagine what the coaches and players are experiencing. Why is there no VAR in the qualifying round? ” Mark Fish asked.
“I’m not saying it’s perfect, but it helps the referee make better decisions.” He said.
“They (SAFA) have launched a protest, but it is doubtful whether FIFA will overturn it.
“Two weeks ago, there was a case in which the referee made a controversial decision in a match between Amazur and Kaiser Chiefs.” Added FIFA.
“The referee was suspended, but the results remained. The PSL must be a front runner and have a VAR to set standards for other parts of the continent.”
