Ghanaian-born American midfielder Kofi Twumasi has joined German Regionalliga side Rot Weiss Oberhausen from Romanian outfit FC Constanta on a three-year contract.
The 22-year old midfielder joins the German fourth-tier side on a free transfer on Thursday following the expiration of his contract with FC Constanta.
Twumasi, last season was on loan at CFR Cluj, where he made 12 league appearances, scoring twice.
Twumasi who was born in Ghana’s second largest City Kumasi but grew up in America is yet to represent Ghana or the Yankees at any level.
“It has taken a little longer than we thought,” said Oberhausen sporting director Patrick Bauder, but also knows: “But this can happen in international transfers due to the bureaucratic conditions. We are glad that it worked now and Kofi officially belongs to the squad. He will certainly do well for our game. ”
