Ghanaian-born American and Valencia CF youngster, Yunus Musah featured in the friendly game against Wales, becoming the first player from the Spanish La Liga club to play for the USA
Yunus Musah continues to make Valencia CF history. The young midfielder has become the first player from the club to play for the United States senior team. His debut took place this Thursday, in the friendly against Wales.
Gregg Berhalter, the USMNT coach, fielded Yunus Musah in his starting lineup for the match and the 17-year-old was a delight to watch throughout the minutes he spent on the pitch.
The United States will play one further game during the international team break. Another friendly takes against Panama on Monday, November 16th at 8:45 pm CET in Vienna.
Although yet to make his debut in official competition for his country, Yunus Musah joins the select group of players to make a first appearance -official or unofficial- for the USMNT before turning 18. He did so alongside Gio Reyna, who also made his debut this Thursday.
Only eleven players had previously featured for the USA at such a young age: Poli García, Steve Snow, Mark Jonas, Mike Slivinski, Nelson Vargas, Maurice Ligeon, Bobby Convey, Eddie Gaven, Freddy Adu, Juan Agudelo and Christian Pulisic.
