Ghanaian businessman Dr. Daniel McKorley, also known as McDan, has publicly declared his intention to acquire Nottingham Forest, an English Premier League club.
Dr. McKorley made this announcement during a Joy Thought Leadership seminar held at the Labadi Beach Hotel on October 9, 2023. He revealed his deep-rooted connection to Nottingham Forest, stating that, apart from the Ghana Premier League’s Great Olympics, it is the only football club he supports.
“The only team I support in the world apart from Oly [Great Olympics] is Nottingham Forest, I have been a supporter of Nottingham Forest when Nottingham was even in the third division. Why?
“Because I want to buy that team. I want to buy Nottingham Forest, imagine with all this development going on,” he said.
His loyalty to Nottingham Forest remained steadfast even during the club’s time in the third division of English football. Dr. McKorley’s goal is to acquire the club and outlined his vision for its future. He particularly emphasized his desire to see a strong presence of Ghanaian talent within Nottingham Forest’s squad.
Dr. McKorley envisions that by investing in the local football system, he can ultimately achieve a situation where over half of the team consists of Ghanaian players competing in the Premier League.
He said, “McDan buys Nottingham Forest, and every time you see about 60% of the players [in the team] from the English league are from Ghana.”
