Swansea City AFC deputy captain, Andre Ayew picked up a fresh ankle injury in his side’s game against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday at lunchtime.
The Black Stars captain lasted only just nine minutes of the game and was taken off and replaced with Wayne Routledge who made his 300 appearances for the Jack Army’s.
Ayew, who is the top scorer of the club in the English Championship injury early in the game had a telling effect on the game as the Swans dropped points against bottom-placed team Wycom.
Admiral Muskwe on the 46th-minute mark gave the visitors the lead before Garath McCleary made it 2-0 six minutes into the second half after a goalless first 45 minutes of the match.
In Ayew’s absence, strike Jamal Lowe stepped up to take a penalty in the 80th minute and converted nicely from 12 yards to reduce the deficit to one with 10 minutes to go.
Three minutes later, Liam Cullen powered home the equalizer for the Lilly Whites as they grabbed a comeback draw at the Jaws of a defeat but their chances of automatic qualification into the Premier League keeps diminishing.
The extent of Ayew’s injury is unknown for now but one thing is that, should the Ghanaian be out for long period that could go a long way to have effect on how Swansea City perform since he’s their talisman.
The 33-year-old Ghanaian has scored 15 goals and have registered four assists in 40 games this campaign for the Swans in the English Championship.
