Dutch-born Ghanaian defender Jamal Amofa has been offered a two-year contract extension by Dutch Eredivisie outfit ADO Den Haag with option to extend the term by more one season.
The 21-year-old center-back will therefore be stuck in the Cars Jeans Stadium until mid-2022.
Amofa has been at ADO Den Haag for over two seasons now, joining them from DC Heerenveen where he played for four years.
The Dutch-Ghanaian defender previously played for the youth side of SV Bijlmer, Zeeburgia, AFC and AZ. After Amofa already trained regularly with the first selection and even managed to score two goals in a friendly match against VV RCS in July 2019, he has now picked a place in the team of head coach Aleksandar Rankovic.
“I have developed well and have therefore received a second reward. I am very grateful to the club for that ”, the defender smiles. “I was given the space to prove myself and I want to thank the trainer for that. I get the chance from him to show what I can do. I am ready to show even more and will work hard to get more and more playing time. ”
Martin Jol, head of the Technical Heart on the other hand, calls it a well-deserved reward for Amofa.
“Jamal has enforced this himself in the past three months. He has shown that we can still enjoy him a lot. He is a football-playing defender with qualities that still hold a lot of stretch. We are happy to give him the space to develop further. This contract extension also fits seamlessly into our vision, which focuses on talent retention. This way you can prevent promising players from leaving prematurely. ”
