Ghanaian pair Gideon Mensah and Abdul Mumin Played full throttle for Vitoria Guimaraes in the 28th-week fixture of the Portuguese top flight.
Both players started the game at the Estadio do Dragao but succumbed to a 49th-minute strike from Malian international striker Moussa Marega.
Gideon Mensah who has one cap for the national team was drafted to the left-hand side of defense with Abdul Mumin in central defence.
The defeat to Vitoria Guimaraes puts them 6th on the league log. The Ghanaian pair will be hoping for a call-up as the Black Stars begin preparation for World Cup qualifiers in June.
Gideon Mensah first played for the national team against South Africa in Cape Coast in the 2021 Afcon qualifiers.
