English-Ghanaian forward Daniel Adu-Adjei was the standout performer as Rijeka secured a 3–1 victory over Omonia Nicosia, booking their place in the next round of the Conference League.
Rijeka entered the match with a 1–0 advantage from the first leg in Cyprus but were immediately tested when Muamer Tankovic gave Omonia the lead, leveling the aggregate score.
After the break, Toni Fruk restored Rijeka’s momentum, first equalizing on the night with a finish from Tiago Dantas’ assist, then putting the hosts 2–1 ahead with a composed strike created by Adu-Adjei’s intelligent play in the final third.
Adu-Adjei capped off a brilliant evening in the 79th minute, scoring himself to make it 3–1, completing a goal-and-assist performance that highlighted his growing influence in Rijeka’s attack.
The result sealed a 4–1 aggregate victory and extended Rijeka’s impressive home form in European competition.
Rijeka now turn their attention back to domestic matters, hosting NK Lokomotiva in an HNL clash on Sunday, March 1, with Adu-Adjei aiming to carry his European momentum into league action.
