English-born Ghanaian striker Emile Acquah featured full 90 minutes Southend United as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Colchester United in the English League Two on Tuesday night.
Two nice goals in the first half from Michael Folivi and Harry Pell ensured Colchester United earned a valuable win at the expense of Essex rivals Southend United in the penultimate home game of the season.
His compatriots Micheal Folivi and Brendan Sarpong Wiredu were also handed starting roles by Colchester United manager Wayne Lawrence Brown.
Acquah, 20, has so far this campaign, played 31 matches for Southend United and scored only two goals.
Folivi tapped in from close range following in from Harry Pell’s effort to set the U’s on their way before Harry Pell sealed it with a powerful volley that was unstoppable.
Colchester United were dangerous and were perhaps a little unlucky not to have a spot kick ten minutes into the second period.
Michael Folivi went down in the area under the challenge from Hobson, but the referee gave a free kick to the Shrimpers.
Unfortunately, Michael Folivi was unable to continue after the challenge and had to be replaced by Jevani Brown.
