English-born Ghanaian forward Jesurun Rak-Sakyi celebrated his 22nd birthday in style, netting twice to lead Sheffield United to a 2-0 win over Luton Town in the English Championship. The Crystal Palace loanee played a key role at Bramall Lane, helping his side secure all three points in the week 9 fixture.
Rak-Sakyi opened the scoring just 12 minutes into the match, expertly converting a lobbed pass from Anel Ahmedhodzic to give Sheffield United the lead. The young forward continued his fine form in the second half, finding the net again in the 52nd minute with a low shot that slipped through Luton goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski’s legs.
Despite some late pressure from Luton Town, the Blades held on for the 2-0 win, with Rak-Sakyi’s brace proving decisive. The attacker was substituted in the 66th minute, having already made his mark on the game.
Having joined Sheffield United in the summer transfer window to gain more playing time, Rak-Sakyi has quickly made an impact. Although he struggled to break into Crystal Palace’s first team, his standout performances on loan at Charlton Athletic earned him their Player of the Year award and boosted his reputation as a rising star in English football.
With two goals in seven Championship appearances so far, Rak-Sakyi is determined to leave a lasting impression at Sheffield United this season.
