Austrian-born of Ghanaian descent Kevin Danso has officially joined RC Lens until the summer of 2026 from Bundesliga side FC Augsburg.
The 22-year-old joins the French club on a five-year contract worth €5.5 million after passing a mandatory medical examination last night in France.
The club’s official statement read “The Lens transfer window is accelerating and thickening with the signing of a new international A, the Austrian Kevin Danso. 22-year-old defensive rock with imposing measurements (1m90, 85 kg), the native of Voitsberg was the top priority of Racing.”
“He arrives escorted by a flattering reputation and the firm intention to confirm in Ligue 1 the great potential displayed in Germany (41 Bundesliga games) and in the Premier League in particular.”
Danso joined the Bundesliga outfit in 2017 from English third-tier club MK Dons but was later loaned out to Southampton and Fortuna Dusseldorf for regular playing time.
During his loan spell last term at Fortuna Dusseldorf, Danso featured in 32 league games, scoring twice and assisting twice in the 2020-21 campaign.
The Voitsberg-born defender opted to play for Austria at the expense of Ghana at the international stage as he made his debut for the Austrian senior national team on September 2, 2017 during a World Cup qualifiers.
