Ghanaian hard tackler ,Afriyie Acquah, was on top form in his Empoli debut as the Blues recorded a 2-0 win against Cagliari at home Sunday night in their first match of the Serie A campaign.
The Black Stars midfielder was named in the starting lineup despite having just one training session with the team he joined on transfer deadline day.
But the 26-year-old adjusted well and made his wealth of Serie A experience count.
He bossed the right side of the midfield as goals from Rade Krunic and Francesco Caputo sealed the win.
Acquah has previously played for Palermo, Parma, Sampdoria and Torino in the Italian top-flight.
A memorable competitive debut for me at @EmpoliCalcio as we win #EmpoliCagliari with a fantastic team effort. We will have a very good season!! #SerieA pic.twitter.com/Y6jUtTnGVx
